Why MIT is Right for You
School Tours

We conduct school tours every Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. School tours are available only on Fridays, but you can call to schedule a tour at any time during the school year. Feel free to reach out to us to arrange your visit!

Student Expectations

MIT students are responsible, curious learners who want the most from their education. The MIT student must have:

  • The maturity to handle a college schedule (recommendation from Kings Ridge staff)
  • The ability to manage a demanding curriculum
Student Classification

MIT places students in grade levels based on their age and/or grade attended during the previous school year. We utilize this placement for attendance reporting and other records.

MIT has instructional levels for high school students in grades 9–12; these levels do not necessarily follow grade level designation. Rather, we place high school students in grades 9–12 into sections based upon a combination of program requirements, the student’s academic readiness, and scheduling constraints. Additionally, in certain cases, we may base section placement by student or parent preference. We will notify parents prior to making any changes to a section assignment.

Students who are behind academically or in credits can do one or more of the following:

  • Enroll in summer school
  • Increase the number of courses they take
  • Take an additional online learning course
  • Continue to enroll in high school beyond the four years
Credit Transfers

Students who have earned credits in any grade lower than grade 9 in compliance with the rules issued by the relevant education authorities and all applicable laws may request a transfer credit evaluation by completing the Transcript Evaluation Request form and submitting the form to the headmaster at MIT.

In accordance with Arizona Department of Education, students in eighth grade who continue to attend MIT in ninth grade may receive one credit for algebra, one credit for geometry, or one credit for any pre-calculus or AP math course. These courses may satisfy high school graduation requirements; however, these grades are not included in the GPA.

MIT accepts all credits issued by other high schools, community colleges, and universities as elective credits. To receive credit for a core area course completed at another institution, students must petition the headmaster to evaluate the depth of the coursework taken and verify adequate alignment with that of the applicable course syllabus. The headmaster may require the student to take the exam for the core area credit. Upon successful petition and passage of the exam, the student receives the credit for the core course.

Transferring Credits from MIT

To transfer credit, students must submit a written request to the MIT office manager or complete the appropriate paperwork, including the student’s complete name, student ID number, and address.
